PORT
The Port Department includes two units – The Old and New Port, which is located in downtown. This Department is completely equipped and U. S. Steel Serbia is using it for discharging of raw materials over the Danube River, as well as for loading the barges intend for river transportation of products to customers. The closed ware house is located in the Old Port which area is 420 square meters. The New Port is located in industrial zone in Smederevo – 1.111 kilometers of River Danube, beside M – 24 road, and high way Beograd – Nis. Two gantries, (GANZ 16/27, 5 tons) which were installed in 2005, work in 24/7 working regime and overload the ore crude materials from barges into trucks. The trucks are transporting the ore crude materials to ware house at the Plant. The current capacity of the New Port is 2, 4 million tons The plan is to enlarge capacity of the New Port in order to satisfy increase needs of production for ore crude materials.
