U.S.Steel Serbia d.o.o, commits itself to full environmental protection on a local, regional and global basis. Environmental protection is one of the basic requirements of business policy, quality policy, technology and economy of U.S.Steel Serbia d.o.o.

The USS Serbia Environmental Department is a working resource entity to Operating and Maintenance facilities at USS Serbia and its Affiliated Companies. The department has the responsibility to provide professional input, advice and counsel to insure the operations effectively reduce emissions, discharges and maintain storage facilities for lubricants to comply with Serbian State laws and existing USS policies, practices and procedures.

The U. S. Steel Serbia Sabac tin-plate facility has been certified to the ISO 14001:1996 standard since October 2003. This certification recognizes that our Environmental Management System (EMS) meets the world standard and effectively addresses environmental aspects that U. S. Steel Serbia can control and directly manage. In addition, the Smederevo facility is also going forward with developing an EMS that will meet the ISO 14001 standard.
